On April 16, 1918, Babe Ruth pitched the Boston Red Sox to a 7-1 Opening Day victory over the Philadelphia Athletics.
Nine days earlier, another Red Sox great -- Bobby Doerr -- was born. And on Monday, Doerr lived through his 92nd Opening Day, including that first one in 1918.
Doerr turned 91 Tuesday and joined 10 other Hall of Famers who have reached that age -- a group that includes less than 4 percent of the 289 members of the Hall of Fame. Of those inducted as a player, he is the oldest living Hall of Famer.
